In observance of the National Flag Day from 28 May to 12 June 2022, the Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong held a flag raising ceremony at the PCG public area.

In his remarks, Consul General Raly L. Tejada mentioned how Hong Kong played a significant role in Philippine history when the first Philippine flag of independence was sewn at Morrison Hill in Wanchai, Hong Kong in May 1898 by Marcela Agoncillo, her daughter, Lorenza, and Delfina Herbosa Natividad, niece of Philippine National hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. He emphasized that Flag Day serves as an occasion to give respect and reverence to our symbol of national sovereignty and solidarity. Consul General Tejada added that public servants must be committed to render service with utmost dedication, honesty and humility at all times. He emphasized the importance of respect, dignity, integrity and loyalty as key elements in our quest to better ourselves and the lives of our countrymen.

To affirm their commitment as public servants, the officers and staff of the Consulate and its attached agencies recited the “Panunumpa ng Kawani ng Gobyerno”. During the two-week commemoration, the Philippine flag and flaglets will be prominently displayed at the Consulate’s public area.
