Hong Kong, 14 November 2022 — Two Filipino Community Organizations showcased Philippine folk dances namely, “Sakuting” and “Sayaw sa Cuyo”, performed by the Tinikling Group of Migrants and the Migrant Ilonggo Association International, respectively at the International Ethnic Cultural Performances (IECP) 2022.
The IECP 2022, organized by the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department, was held on 13 November 2022 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza. This year, a special edition of the annual event, in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR, was held with the theme “The Art of Masks” highlighting the mask culture in rituals and performing arts across the world. Vice Consul Jose Angelo D.G. Manuel represented the Philippines during the opening ceremony.
Over twenty-two (22) other countries participated in which showcased the artistry and cultures of different parts of the world through a variety of activities including ethnic stage performances, cultural mask displays and activity booths. The programme received an enthusiastic response and attracted more than 22,000 participants.
