HONG KONG, 20 August 2023 – The Sentro Rizal Hong Kong organized a virtual Masterclass on Philippine Folk Dance with the world-class  Bayanihan National Dance Company on 06, 13 and 20 August 2023 in partnership with the National Commission for Cultural and the Arts, Bayanihan National Dance Company and the Consulate General of the Philippines in Shanghai.

In his opening remarks, Consul General Raly L. Tejada thanked teh NCAA and Bayanihan for their initiatives in terms of preserving the country's rich cultural heritage. CG Tejada also urged the participants to take the challenge of mastering the dances for further growth and improvement.

Conducted via Zoom, the three-week workshop paved way for the participants to learn about the importance of Philippine Fork Dances  in promoting Philippine arts and culture through the lectures led by Bayanihan Dance Director, Mr. Ferdinand "Bong" Jose. The participants were also trained on the fundamentals and basic steps of folk dance during the interactive sessions and had an in-depth coaching with their mentors in preparation for their final performance.

During the last day, the participants, who are mostly leaders of various Filipino dance groups and community organizations in Hong Kong, delighted teh audience with their performances of two folk dances namely, Binausan and Kini-Kini. They also expressed their utmost appreciation to the organizers and their mentors for the opportunity to learn and interact with the world-renowned Bayanihan.
