Hong Kong, 07 January 2024 - Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan led the flag-raising ceremony after assuming stewardship of the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong. She was joined by the officers and staff of the Consulate together with the members of the Filipino Community in the PCG public area this morning.
In her short address, Consul General Aguilar-Usudan reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to improve the delivery of consular and other services to the public which includes upholding and protecting the rights and welfare of Filipinos in Hong Kong.
Consul General Aguilar-Usudan began her career with the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1988 right after graduating from the University of the Philippines. She took the Foreign Service Officers’ examination and joined the foreign service in 1997. Since then, she served as Principal Assistant of the Office of Consular Affairs (1997-1999), Special Assistant and Vice-Chairperson of Overseas Voting Secretariat (2006-2009), and Director of Office of Middle East and African Affairs (2016-2018) at the Home Office in Manila.
Her previous foreign assignments were at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (1999-2002), the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2002-2006), the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia (2009-2012) and the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2012-2016). Prior to her assumption as Head of Post, Consul General Aguilar-Usudan was the Deputy Consul General in the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong.
Consul General Aguilar-Usudan has a degree in BA Economics from the University of the Philippines and Juris Doctor (Doctor of Law) from the University of Santo Tomas. She hails from Libon, Albay and is married with two (2) children.
