Hong Kong, 30 December 2023 – The Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong commemorated the 127th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal with a wreath-laying and flag raising ceremony held at the Consulate’s public area attended with the members of the Filipino Community.

During the program, the Consulate paid homage to Dr. Jose Rizal with an oral interpretation of his literary work, “A La Juventud Filipina” or “To the Filipino Youth” recited by Vice Consul Allan G. Revote followed by a brief message of Consul General Raly L. Tejada.

In his remarks, Consul General Tejada recognized the role of Rizal in laying the foundation for the nationhood through his insightful writing, biting critique of inequality, and genuine desire for justice for the Filipinos, and how his sacrifice sparked revolution to the forefront. CG Tejada encouraged everyone to remember Rizal’s clarity of conscience in adversity and keep in mind his fervent wish for the Filipino people to showcase their strength and unity as a nation.
