Hong Kong, 11 March 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General and Sentro Rizal Hong Kong opened the National Women's Month Celebration last 3 March 2024. Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan presented the 2024 theme entitled, “πΏπππ’ππππ πππ‘ππ π π π΅πππππ πππππππππ : πΎππππ¦πβππ ππ πΎππππππβππ, πππ‘π’πππ¦ππ!”. Consul General Aguilar-Usudan called on all the women in the audience to showcase and harness their full potential by actively engaging in national growth and development.
To commence the month-long celebration, the Consulate opened a new exhibit on its "ππππππ πππππ¦π" Freedom Art Wall featuring Ma. Vianee Ubana Fernie, a Filipina artist based in Lamma Island, Hong Kong. During the short program, Vice Consul Allan G. Revote introduced ππππππ πππππ¦π’π featured artist of the month who is also an educator, singer-songwriter, and founder of Sinag Art Space, an independent artist-run space in Lamma Island.
Ms. Fernie's featured art is collectively entitled as the "πΉππππππ π΅ππ’π ππππππ ", composed of 3 works depicting women, which includes an "πππ‘ππ‘πππ" work, and two individually titled pieces called "πΌ ππ πππ‘ ππππππ", and "πΉππππππ π΅ππ’π". These works aim to convey a powerful message of self-discovery, resilience, and the transformative power of art to capture and communicate complex emotions.
Ms. Fernie's featured art may be viewed for free at the ππππππ πππππ¦π Art Corner located at the PCG public area from Sundays to Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
