HONG KONG, 15 March 2024 - The Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong and Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) discussed potential collaboration and support in boosting the Philippine film industry following FDCP’s courtesy call on Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan last 12 March 2024. The FDCP was represented by 𝐌𝐬. 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐨, Executive Director of Film Philippines Office, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐞𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬, Technical Consultant, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐃𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐳, Chief of Staff, and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐤 𝐃𝐞 𝐆𝐮𝐳𝐦𝐚𝐧, Senior Administrative Assistant.

During the meeting, Consul General Aguilar-Usudan pledged to strengthen the partnership between the Consulate and the FDCP by showcasing Philippine films and promoting appreciation of Philippine arts and film culture within the city.

The recent meeting between the Consulate and the FDCP signified a promising step towards enhancing the presence of Philippine cinema in the international arena. By working jointly on various initiatives, both parties aim to elevate the visibility and recognition of Filipino films, talents, and stories, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of the Philippine film industry.

FDCP hosted the Philippine Pavilion at the 2024 Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART), one of the biggest film and entertainment content markets in Asia, which was held from 11 to 14 March 2024 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). With FDCP’s participation in FILMART, delegates from Philippine production and distribution companies engage with potential partners, collaborators and stakeholders to promote Philippine cinema on a global scale.
