To better serve OFWs and Filipino residents in Hong Kong, the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong SAR brought for the first time a whole team of consular personnel to Lamma Island to conduct its first-ever consular outreach. The program was held at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Kindergarten on 26 October 2014 and served as a mobile one-stop processing shop.
The pilot program offered the following services to the Filipino Community in Lamma Island:
- Passport Processing and Passport Appointments;
- Assistance-to-Nationals;
- Overseas Voting Registration (OVR);
- Civil Registry;
- Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) Issuance and Labour Consultations;
- OWWA Contract Processing and Membership;
- Psycho-Social Counselling;
- Pag-IBIG Membership and Programs; and
- Social Security System (SSS) Membership and Programs.
The Filipino Community in Lamma Island, led by Ms. Catherine Marsden, co-organized, hosted and served as the conduit of the project.
The Consulate intends to organize more consular outreach initiatives especially in outlying areas in Hong Kong SAR.
