HONG KONG, 19 JANUARY 2025 - The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, together with the University of the Philippines (UP), Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), University of Santo Tomas (UST), De La Salle University (DLSU) and Mapua University, successfully promoted educational opportunities in the Philippines before an international audience at the 34th Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Education and Careers Expo. The Expo was held from 16 to 19 January 2025 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

Under the “Non-Hong Kong Education” section, the Consulate was once again provided an opportunity to showcase the Philippines’ top performing universities and their excellent programs and courses offered, ranging from secondary school, graduate school, home school, open distance eLearning, and available scholarship opportunities. The Consulate and DLSU representatives were likewise able to promote the advantages of studying in the Philippines, and provided answers to queries of interested international students.

Aside from educational opportunities in the country’s top performing universities, Expo visitors were able to have a glimpse of the vibrant culture of the Philippines and its unique and world-class tourism offerings through the Consulate’s display of video presentations and tourism brochures provided by the Department of Tourism.

Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan attended the Opening Ceremony of HKTDC Education and Careers Expo, which was officiated by Hong Kong Secretary for Labour and Welfare Mr. Chris Sun and HKTDC Executive Director Ms. Margaret Fong.

This year’s Expo, themed “Go with Your Passion, Go Beyond Limits,” assembled more than 820 institutions from 22 countries offering a wide range of educational options and over 4,000 job opportunities. The four-day-long fair, which was open to the public, served as nexus for the public and educational institutions from Mainland China, Hong Kong and overseas, government departments, professional groups, recruitment platforms and private sector entities.
