The Department of Health of Hong Kong has raised the response level of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) Preparedness Plan to "SERIOUS".

A red travel alert has also been issued by the Hong Kong authorities for travel to South Korea.

The Center for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health recorded 215 suspected cases in Hong Kong, but all tested negative for MERS Coronavirus (MERS-CoV).

As of 17 June 2015, 161 MERS cases have been confirmed by South Korea, with 20 deaths. According to the report by the Korean health authority, all confirmed cases have contracted the infection in or within the hospital setting. There are no reported cases of efficient transmission from human to human.

Filipinos are advised to avoid travel to South Korea and the Middle East. If travel is necessary, please avoid visiting health-care institutions and take extra precautionary measure such as wearing a mask and frequent hand washing.

The Consulate will continue to monitor developments and will issue advisories accordingly.

 

Alerto sa MERS: "SERIOUS"

Itinaas ng Kagawaran ng Kalusugan ng Hong Kong ang response level ng Middle East Respiratory Syndrom (MERS) Preparedness Plan sa "SERIOUS". Naglabas din ng red travel alert ang mga autoridad sa Hong Kong para sa mga byahe patungong South Korea.

Ang Center for  Health Protection (CHP) ng Kagawaran ng Kalusugan ay nakatala ng215 pinaghihinalaang kaso sa Hong Kong, subalit lumabas na negatibo ang lahat saMERS Coronavirus (MERS-CoV).

Hanggang ika-17 ng Hunyo 2015, 161 kaso ng MERS ang kinumpirma ng South Korea,kabilang ang 20 taong namatay.  Ayon sa ulat ng autoridad sa kalusugan ng Korea, anglahat ng kumpirmadong kaso ng MERS ay nakakuha ng impeksyon sa loob ng ospital.Walang iniulat na kaso ng pagkahawa mula sa tao papunta sa kapwa tao.

Pinapayuhan  ang  mga  Filipino  na  umiwas  magbiyahe  sa  South  Korea  at  saGitnang  Silangan.  Kung  kailangang  magbiyahe,  umiwas  bumisita  sa  mgapagamutan at ospital at magsagawa ng karagdagang hakbang tulad ng pagsuotng maskara o madalas na paghugas ng kamay.

Patuloy na susubaybayan ng Konsulado ang mga kaganapan at maglalabas ng bagonggabay kung kinakailangann.
