To better serve OFWs and Filipino residents in Hong Kong, the Philippine Consulate General brought a whole team of consular personnel to Discovery Bay to conduct consular services. The program was held at the Discovery Bay Community Hall on 5 September 2015 and served as a mobile one-stop processing shop.
Close to 300 services were provided to Filipino Community members residing at Discovery Bay, as well as in other areas such as Lantau Island and as far as Shatin:
The program offered the following services:
- Passport Appointment;
- Assistance-to-Nationals;
- Overseas Voting Registration
- Civil Registry
- Legal Advice;
- Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) Issuance and Labour Consultations;
- OWWA Contract Processing and Membership;
- Psycho-Social Counselling
- Pag-IBIG Membership and Programs; and
- Social Security System (SSS) Membership and Programs
The Discovery Bay consular outreach was held in partnership with the Hong Kong Civic Association. Members of the Association of Concerned Migrant Workers (ACMW)-Discovery Bay served as volunteers during the program.
This is the second full-service consular outreach conducted by the Philippine Consulate General, the first one being held on 26 October 2014 in Lamma Island.
The Consulate intends to organize more consular outreach initiatives especially in outlying areas in Hong Kong SAR.
