HONG KONG SAR, 08 October 2017 – In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Philippine Consulate General, in partnership with the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation, organized and sponsored free breast screening, mammogram services and talk on breast health at the Consulate on 8 October 2017.

Now on its sixth year, the project aims to promote health and wellness among members of the Filipino Community in Hong Kong. The activity benefited more than 100 women OFWs.

The Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation was represented by Ms. Grace Chung, Senior Health Service Officer; Ms.Liza Leung, Health Service Officer; Ms. Li Man Shu, Health Service Officer; Ms. Alice Yeung, Executive Officer; and Ms. Kara Kan, Health Service Assistant.

During the talk, Ms. Grace Chung discussed the symptoms, statistics and risk factors of breast cancer, as well as how to conduct self-examination and breast cancer treatment. Ms. Anna Pendry, a Filipino community leader and breast cancer survivor, also shared her experience in dealing with breast cancer.

Participants exchanged issues on breast concerns and sought advice on breast health.

The event was held under the auspices of the Consulate’s gender and development (GAD) program.
