Consul General Antonio A. Morales discussed Hong Kong’s role as an international trade hub and possible initiatives to enhance trade relations with the Territory, especially following the signing of the ASEAN-Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement, during his call on the dean of the consular corps in Hong Kong, Consul General Gustavo Fazzari of Argentina.

Consul General Fazzari briefed Consul General Morales on the consular corps’ activities such as the annual Consuls General Ball in February.

Both consuls general agreed that Hong Kong is an “international supermarket” thus it is an excellent platform to market various goods not only for local consumption, but also for distribution to mainland China and other parts of the world.

The consuls general also noted Hong Kong’s unique position having one country and two systems, and how the Territory maximizes this role in the world economy.

Consul General Morales informed Consul General Fazzari of the Philippine Consulate General’s upcoming projects including a possible familiarization tour to the Philippines – an activity which Consul General Fazzari expressed interest to join.

Both consuls general looked forward to working closely together during their terms of office in Hong Kong to promote the interests of the consular corps in the Territory.
