Consul General Antonio A. Morales looked forward to collaborating on initiatives to empower OFWs in Hong Kong through capacity building projects on combatting human trafficking and other migrant workers issues, during his courtesy call on the Head of the European Union Office in Hong Kong and Macau, Carmen Cano De Lasala.
Ms. Lasala informed Consul General Morales that one of the priorities of the EU Office in Hong Kong and Macau is to intensify efforts to combat human trafficking. The office has been organizing seminars and fora for the consular corps, civil society and academia on this issue.
In reply, Consul General Morales recommended the holding of a symposium and other related activities for migrant workers to address human trafficking.
Consul General Morales discussed with Ms. Lasala his plans to enhance consular services such as the implementation of a mobile passport appointment app.
He also encouraged Ms. Lasala to promote in EU investment opportunities in the Philippines, as well as expressed commitment to enhancing Philippines-EU trade relations.
