HONG KONG, 5 March 2018 – Philippine jewelers Karamar Corporation and Meycauayan Jewelry Industry Association, Inc. (MJIAI) participated in the 35th Hong Kong International Jewelry Show organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) on 1-5 March 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC).

Karamar Corporation, under its retail brand Jewelmer Joaillerie, featured the world-renowned golden South Sea pearl, while MJIAI showcased filigree jewelry designs and college rings.

To extend support for Philippine jewelers participating in the jewelry show, Consul General Antonio A. Morales and Consulate personnel met with the representatives of Karamar Corporation and MJIAI. Karamar Corporation has been participating in the Show for more than 20 years while MJIAI’s inaugural participation was in 2017.

Also present was Vice Consul (Commercial) John Paul Iñigo of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Guangzhou.

Consul General Morales also attended the Show’s Gala Dinner on 1 March to further network with industry representatives.

Mr. Jacques Christophe Branellec, Group Executive Vice-President of Karamar Corporation, described the pearl industry in the Philippines as “bullish” and the company is strictly complying with the environmental requirements and promoting environmental sustainability.

MJIAI, with 62 members, aims to encourage jewelry producers and traders to work collectively to develop the jewelry sector into a major export industry of the Philippines.

The 35th Hong Kong International Jewelry Show was held in tandem with the 5th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show on 27 February-3 March at the AsiaWorldExpo. The Show featured loose stones and raw materials.

Deputy Consul General Roderico C. Atienza attended the 5th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show where the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr. Edward Yau, was the guest of honor.
