The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong SAR conducted the “Love and Relationships, Pag-ibig at Relasyon: A Community Education Workshop on Relationship for Foreign Domestic Workers” on 25 February 2018 at the Consulate’s Conference Room.

The event was held for the second year running and in partnership with PathFinders, an NGO focusing on implementing capacity building initiatives on maternal health and rights of migrant workers in Hong Kong.

During his remarks, Consul General Antonio A. Morales thanked PathFinders for its initiative to empower Filipino household service workers (HSWs). He underlined that this dovetails with the Consulate’s objective to comprehensively promote the well-being of HSWs, including their psychological and emotional health.

PathFinders officials gave an interactive talk on the vulnerabilities, pitfalls, expectations and conflicts in relationships, awareness of cultural differences, maternity protection, marital status and rights of children born in Hong Kong, as well as empowerment and self-protection.

Twenty-four leaders and members of different Filipino community organizations actively participated in the workshop conducted by Ms. Carmen Lam, Senior Community Development Manager; Ms. Medina Speers, Home Country Integration Consultant; and Ms. Gellin Byatt, Community Development Coordinator of Pathfinders.
