HONG KONG, 08 April 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong conducted a talk in cooperation with two Filcom organizations on how to manage stress for Filipino workers in Hong Kong, especially for those working as drivers, on 8 April 2018 at the Consulate Chancery.
In his remarks at the start of the “Magtanong kay Dok (Ask Doc): Seminar on Stress Management”, Consul General Antonio A. Morales emphasized the importance of handling stress, especially for OFWs, who are away from their families and loved ones, and may not have sufficient support systems while working abroad.
Filipino medical doctor, and President and Founder of Domestic Workers Empowerment Project (DWEP), Dr. Miguel Manio, discussed the common causes, symptoms and effects of stress at the two-hour seminar organized with the Federation of Luzon Active Groups (FLAG) and Radiant Organization of Amiable Drivers (ROAD)-HK.
The more than 70 participants, mostly female drivers, learned how to manage stress as Dr. Manio provided tips and techniques on how to deal with stress and eventually relieve the pressure and regain control.
The talk was followed by Q & A session where participants shared their experiences in dealing with stressful situations, as well as sought advice on how to cope up during these instances.
The event was held under the auspices of Post’s Gender and Development Program.
