PH Consulate fields team in Belt & Road Basketball Tourney in HK
HONG KONG, 4 May 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong fielded a team to compete against seven other teams at the 2nd Belt and Road Friendly Basketball Tournament held on 4th and 6th of May 2018 at the Hung Hom Municipal Services Hall Stadium in Hong Kong’s Kowloon City District.
The PCG team, comprising personnel from the consular and labor sections, played against Malaysia in the first round. Pakistan emerged as overall champion while Nepal came at second place, both for the second time. A combined team from Africa placed third, while Indonesia, Mongolia, and New Home Association representing Hong Kong rounded out the participants.
The tournament was organized by the Silk Road Economic Development Research Center (SREDRC), Hong Kong-based PR agency People’s Communication and Consultant Co. Ltd., and Sportarts.hk. Kowloon City District Recreation and Sports Council hosted the tournament.
The SREDRC is a Hong Kong-based non-government association composed of academics, specialists and businessmen who are gathered to examine the effect and future development of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), as well as to formulate suggestions on how Hong Kong can fit into the BRI.
