The LCU was established in 1958 in Yuen Long, Kowloon District with Cantonese as medium of instruction. In 1960s, LCU was one of the newest government schools providing quality education in the district. In 1984, it set up an Anglo-Chinese section with the aim of making the school freely accessible to ethnic minorities in Kowloon and New Territories.
Today, LCU has become a multi-cultural English Government Primary School and is one of the most ethnically diverse primary schools in HK with students coming from more than 30 countries. The major ethnic groups are from the Philippines, Pakistan, India and Nepal.
The school’s whole approach is to cater for student diversity. LCU adopts new initiatives to enhance the learning experiences of the children, to provide them a well-rounded education that values and supports the intellectual, physical, social and moral development of each child.
