The Philippines boasts of some of the most attractive and diverse spots for Hong Kong divers, due to its proximity to Hong Kong, availability of cheap flights and relative affordability of dive facilities, Philippine Consul General in Hong Kong Antonio A. Morales said on 14 December 2018 on the occasion of the territory’s leading diving fair.

Consul General Morales made the remark during a visit by representatives of the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong to the three-day 2018 Diving and Resort Travel (DRT) Expo in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on its first day.

The Philippine Consulate team also included Deputy Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan, Vice Consul Fatima G. Quintin, and Attachés Luz M. Iglesias and Charlene A. Beriana from the Political and Economic Section.

The Philippines’ Department of Tourism organized a country pavilion featuring its top 21 dive and travel resorts. The Philippine Tourism Office in Shanghai headed by Tourism Attaché Mr. Ireneo H. Reyes, and the Tourism Promotions Board, led by Mr. James A. Sy, Officer-in-Charge of the ASEAN and the Pacific Division of its International Promotions Department, ran the pavilion.

The Philippines is one of the most attractive spots for Hong Kong divers, due to its proximity to Hong Kong, availability of cheap flights and relative affordability of dive facilities.

The Expo, which ran from 14-16 December 2018, was featured around 250 exhibitors and expected 50,000 attendees. Aside from dive resorts, it showcased products such as dive equipment and manufacturers, water sport equipment and manufacturers, wholesalers, exporters, and underwater photography and videography.
