The Philippine Consulate General led by Consul General Raly L. Tejada, participated in the Belt and Road Summit Exhibition 2019 held at the Global Investment Zone, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong from 11 to 12 September 2019.

The exhibition featured around 70 participants from the consular corps in Hong Kong, business firms, government and private sectors from the Asia Pacific region, Middle East and Africa, Mainland China, and Europe.

The Consulate, alongside the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), represented the Philippines in this year’s Exhibition. BCDA, as one of the key agencies driving the “Build Build Build” infrastructure plan in the Philippines, pitched investment opportunities for the 288-hectare Filinvest New Clark City development.

With an aim to promote investment, tourism and retirement opportunities in the Philippines, the representatives of the Consulate and the Department of Trade and Industry- Philippine Trade and Investment Center (DTI-PTIC) Guangzhou, interacted and engaged with the visitors of the Exhibition by providing answers to their investment-related inquiries and useful information about the Philippines as a tourist and retirement destination.

Brochures on “Information Guide on Retirement in the Philippines” from the Philippine Retirement Authoritiy (PRA), and CDs on “Investment in the Philippines” from the DTI-PTIC were disseminated. The Consulate booth featured video presentation about the Philippines and served Philippine famous export products such as dried mangoes and polvoron, much to the delight of the visitors.

Currently on its 4th year, the Belt and Road Summit is jointly organized by the Government of the Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). It aimed to gather different countries around the world to explore Belt and Road opportunities and share latest developments related to the initiative.
