During the call, the Consul General conveyed the good wishes of the President and the 238,000 Filipinos in Hong Kong. He raised the issues on the suitability of accommodations for Household Service Workers (HSWs), review of “live-in requirement”, and current long working hours of Filipino workers. He also informed the Chief Executive that 3,000 Filipino workers have availed of the free measles vaccine in coordination with the HK Department of Health.

The Consul General also informed Mrs. Lam that the establishment of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in HK is on its way after receiving the approval from Beijing. This will enable PH to participate more actively in the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative and have wider involvement in the newly created Greater Bay Area. Mrs. Lam was also informed that the ASEAN-HK Free Trade Agreement is now ready for ratification by the President with the hope that it can be signed before the end of the year.

The Chief Executive expressed her desire to visit the Philippines soon. Both officials agreed to work closely for the promotion of the mutual interests of both governments.
