Hong Kong, 22 December 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong held the PaSTARan 2019 Lantern-Making Competition on 22 December 2019 at the Bayanihan Center, Kennedy Town. Five (5) Filipino Community organizations joined the contest and following are the winners:

1. Grand Winner: United Nueva Vizcayanos – Hong Kong
2. 1st Runner-Up: Cordillera Women’s Club Hong Kong
3. 2nd Runner-Up: Marinduque Migrant Worker’s Association
4. 3rd Runner-Up: Diwa’t Kabayan Benlife Society Club
5. 4th Runner-Up: Isabela Federation
6. People’s Choice Award: Cordillera Women’s Club Hong Kong

The said winners were awarded certificates of participation by PCG, as well as cash prizes in the amount of HK$5,000, HK$3,000, HK$2,000, and HK$1,000 for the grand winner, first, second, third, and fourth place winners, respectively, courtesy of LBC Hong Kong. PCG-HK donated the cash prize on the spot for the 4th Runner-up to ensure that all will receive a prize, and no one goes home empty-handed.

The lantern contest underwent a selection process by a panel of judges consisting of Deputy Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan, Ms. Tess Ubamos, Bayanihan Center Administrator, and Mr. Arnold Cereno, Manager of LBC Hong Kong.

The program also featured performances by F.L.A.G Hong Kong Dancers, Migrant Ilonggo Association International, Star Pinoy, and Ms. Liza Herrera of PCG.

The PaSTARan 2019, together with its entertainment segments, used to serve as “front-act” to the Misa De Agunaildo which is held every 24th December.
