The Philippine Consulate General and the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) of the Philippines jointly organized a webinar on “Premyo Bonds 2” (PB 2) held on 8 November 2020, for the benefit of the Overseas Filipinos (OFs) in Hong Kong.

In his special message, Consul General Raly L. Tejada, stated that the Consulate supports the initiative of the Philippine Government, through the BTr’s Premyo Bonds 2 project, in providing the OFs with an opportunity to invest and generate income with their hard-earned money while at the same time helping the government. He also emphasized the importance of the availability of other income source, such as retail investment programs, for long-term financial sustainability of OFs abroad.
BTr Treasurer Rosalia V. De Leon delivered a brief introduction about the Premyo Bonds 2 which was followed by the presentations of resource speakers namely (1) Ms. Adelfa Masacupan, Vice President, Asset and Liabilities Management Group, of the Landbank of the Philippines (LBP), and (2) Mr. Jose Angelo Abad, Senior Manager of the Capital Markets, of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
Among the topics discussed were the key features of the PB 2 including its general terms and conditions, rewards mechanics, selection process of winners for its quarterly draws, and the accessibility and availability of PB 2 to OFs abroad through various online platforms.
Ms.Leila Martin, CEO and President of the Overseas Filipino (OF) Bank, along with the bank officials cited above, addressed the various concerns raised by the OFs during the Q and A segment. The webinar concluded with a closing remarks from Trade Attache Roberto D. Mabalot, Jr. of the Philippine Trade Investment Center (PTIC)-Hong Kong.

The webinar aimed to promote financial literacy to OFs in Hong Kong by providing a comprehensive discussion on PB 2 in order to encourage the OFs to earn by investing in a secured, convenient, and affordable low-risk investment program offered by the Philippine Government, such as PB 2.
A total of 540 participants registered in the PB 2 webinar. The virtual event was also streamed live through the Consulate’s official Facebook page.
