The Philippine Consulate General participated in the 31st edition of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC)’s 2021 Hong Kong Book Fair, held from 14 to 20 July 2021, at the Hong Kong Convention Exhibition Center (HKCEC).

With theme "Inspirational and Motivational Reading" and tagline "Reading the World: Inspiring the Mind and Refreshing the Soul,” this year’s Hong Kong Book Fair aimed to bring Hong Kong citizens together and encourage them to seek out motivational books to empower them amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021 Hong Kong Book Fair, which partly coincided with HKTDC’s Sports and Leisure Expo, Education and Career’s Expo, and World of Snacks, featured over 760 exhibitors and 16 thematic zones such as the Collectible Corner, International Cultural Village, Children’s Paradise, General Books Pavilion, Multimedia, Stationery and Cultural Gifts, and Spirituality Zone, among others.

In addition, the Consulate booth promoted the Philippine book publishing industry through a series of video presentations featuring the National Book Development (NBDB) of the Philippines and the Philippine Educational Publishers Association (PEPA).

Brochures containing information on the NBDB and PEPA as well as Philippine local delicacy snacks, such as dried mango rind candies and native chocolate treats, were likewise distributed during the duration of the 2021 HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair

Following multiple postponements of the Hong Kong Book Fair last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair provided a unique experience to its visitors through art galleries and diversified cultural activities such as the series of free seminars, workshops, storytelling sessions and book launching events.
