Hong Kong, 28 December 2021 – The Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong staged the annual PaSTARan 2021 Lantern-Making Competition on 24 December 2021 at the Bayanihan Center in Kennedy Town. The theme for this year is “Paskong Pilipino, Natatangi sa Mundo.” Eight (8) Filipino Community organizations joined the contest with the following being declared as the winners:
- Grand Winner: Young Artist of Isabela
- 1st Runner-Up: United Nueva Vizcayanos Hong Kong
- 2nd Runner-Up: Global Alliance Hong Kong
- 3rd Runner-Up: Bangar Association of Hong Kong
- People’s Choice Award: Filipino Workers Livelihood Association (FIWLA)
The winners were awarded certificates of participation by PCG, as well as cash prizes in the amount of HK$5,000, HK$3,000, HK$2,000, and HK$1,000 for the grand winner, first, second, and third, place winners, respectively, courtesy of LBC Hong Kong.
This year’s panel of judges include Welfare Officer Zosima Henedina A. Daquigan, Ms. Tess Ubamos, Bayanihan Center Administrator, and Mr. Arnold Cereno, Manager of LBC Hong Kong.
The program also featured performances by the Migrant Ilonggo Association International and the Consulate’s Consul Bob Quintin and Ms. Liza Herrera.
The PaSTARan 2021, and its entertainment segments, serve as a preliminary program prior to the Filipino Community’s Misa De Aguinaldo which is held every 24th December.
